Michelle Christene Matthews is one of the Founding Members who served as a committee member for Survivors Testimony Outreach Prevention at Providence House. She has a seat on the South Jersey Legal Services Board. She is an advocate, speaker and SURVIVOR of domestic violence. She helps to mentor the survivors as well as the new arrivals at the safe house and counseling center.

 

During her journey at the Providence House she decided to give back to others, which lead her to Burlington County College to pursue a degree in Human Services. While on the Survivors Testimony Outreach Prevention committee, she did speaking engagements for the county prosecutor and other organizations. She has trained law enforcement in the topic of domestic violence.

 

She is determined to help the voiceless find their inner strength and survive just like she did. She wants to help motivate as many women as she can through her personal testimony. She is devoted to helping to save as many lives as she can by helping them create a solid plan of escape and survivorship. However, it does not just stop with saving just one; Michelle wants to use her voice to break the silence of domestic violence. Michelle has held fundraisers to bring awareness to the community, while being able to make donations to local agencies.

 

She was honored at the Statewide Association of The Woman of Color Task Force of The NJ coalition on Battered Woman, she was selected the Keynote speaker and Awardee of one of their most prestigious awards.
